Ahmed Gebrel is a former 2x Olympic swimmer. His swimming journey commenced at the age of 4 at Al-Ahly Sporting Club in Egypt. As a Palestinian he gained the opportunity to represent Palestine in 2006 at the age of 15. Gebrel set Palestinian Swimming Records in various categories, including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m Freestyle, as well as the 200m and 400m Individual Medley.
A notable achievement is that Gebrel recieved an Olymplic Scholarship for four years consecutively in Barcelona (Spain) from 2012 to 2016 to stand as the first and only Palestinian swimmer to participate in two Olympic Games, competing in both London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Throughout his career, he won various awards and accolades while representing Al-Ahly Sporting Club in Egypt, Club Natacion Piera and Club Natacion Barcelona in Spain, as well as in international competitions for Palestine. Additionally, Gebrel took part in four World FINA Championships in Rome 2009, Shanghai 2011, Barcelona 2013, and Kazan 2015.
Since 2016, Gebrel has redirected his professional career and deep passion for swimming towards coaching. Currently residing in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) he holds the position of Competition Squads Program Manager, contributing to the development and management of competitive swimming program.
